RRHC members sucessful at shows.. ( TWO NEW CHAMPIONS!)
The summer season always brings with it many dog shows throughout Texas and Oklahoma. The past two weekends have been good to Red River Club members.
Last weekend in Dallas, JoAnne Redwine’s boy, Cooper, won WD ( winners dog, meaning he beat all the boys. ) and in OKC he went BOW ( best of winners, beat both the girls and boys) for a 4 point major! Go Cooper! He is a cutie.
Also a big congratulations to Carol Hutton, ( past RRHC pres) whose dog Sparky got four point majors and BOW in OKC AND in Dallas to finish her championship! We love new champions! Congrats!
RRHC member Jane Chavez’s precious Hav ( name coming soon) went BOW one day for a major!
Marilyn Griswold also finished her boy, Mikey. ANOTHER CHAMPION! Keep them coming.. we love wins!
I believe in OKC.. the same bitch went BOB ( Best of breed) everyday and is not a RRHC member. And in Dallas the same bitch ( a different one than in OKC, this one was Pink, Pink, Pink, Pink. ) won breed everyday. Stogie and Cody ( both RRHC boys) both went BOS different days on both weekends!
How is that for a summed up report of two weekends and about 7 shows?

For those non-dog show people, each day represents a different show, so some weekends there could be four ( like Thurs, Fri, Sat & Sun) or maybe three or just two.. so depending on how long the show is determines how many shows.
The point system is determined by the number of dogs entered. When your dog wins, the more dogs entered in which he beats, he gets more points. Class dogs, ( those going BOW, WD, WB etc… ) are trying to get their Championship which takes 15 points to get. That must include some major wins.
Some dogs get their Championship then keep competing in the Best of Breed. Here they are competing for Breed points to be ranked against other Havanese all over the country. Any dog who wins BOB over other dogs entered gets breed points. If a girl wins, they then award a BOS ( best opposite sex) which is basically saying they are the best of the boys winning ( but BOS does not get points) .. etc. and vice versa. Its so complicated, typing it, I was wondering if I understand it!
Here is a great page on AKC explaining the break down of a dog show.
